A Description of Hidden Disabilities. ADHD is One of Them.
Curated by Cynthia Hammer, MSW
Hidden or invisible difficulties mean that individuals do not show any physical signs, although they impact the individual’s day-to-day life. ….Research finds that children with hidden disabilities often have behavior problems related to reduced self-confidence, increased anxiety, stress, and social isolation. For adults, having an undiagnosed disability can affect career choice, limit job advancement and lead to a number of psychological and emotional issues, including depression and feelings of low self-worth. The impact of something that cannot be seen can be difficult for those who are neurotypical (i.e. those without learning and behavior difficulties) to comprehend.
